About the Author
Scott J. Kolbaba, MD, is a doctor of internal medicine in Wheaton, Illinois. After being awarded a degree in economics from Cornell College and serving with the Marine Corps Reserves, he completed his medical degree at the University of Illinois and graduated with honors. Kolbaba interned with Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center and completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. After a miraculous experience where he was given divine knowledge that a patient needed a lung scan, which ultimately saved his life, Kolbaba became intrigued by unexplained phenomenon many doctors see during their professional careers. He spent three years compiling this anthology of amazing occurrences. Kolbaba lives with his wife, Joan, and enjoys spending time with his seven children and their families. He loves to travel, fly kites, and support charities, including an orphanage in Romania.

I am a patient of Dr. Scott Kolbaba and I have been treated by some of the physicians who shared their stories in this book. This book is truely inspirational. It allows the reader to understand how miracles occur in everyday life. The stories are true and are shared in a way that leaves the reader craving the next story in the book. I found it hard to put down once I stated reading and I am hoping that here will be many books to follow. Dr. Kolbaba is one of the truest , humble and most talented physicians I have ever known. This book is a testament to all the extraordinary healers who help us become healthy in body,mind and spirit. It is a must read !
I am from Wheaton, Illinois and I know Barbara Cummiskey personally. We went to high school together - class of 1968. I can attest that her story is factual. Her sister was my sister's closest friend, and we knew the family very well, and I can recall many details about Barb's illness from the beginning, when it was developing, until the miracle that happened when she heard, "My child, get up and walk!" Our whole family knows the account of how she got out of bed and began dancing in her room. She spoke at my parents' church in Geneva, Illinois many years ago and I attended her presentation; in addition, there was also a wonderful article about her experience in "Guideposts" magazine. I am very happy to have this e-book - I own it for Kindle, thanks to Barb's mention of it on Facebook. She is living proof that miracles can and DO happen. I have a first cousin who had a similar experience on an airplane that was about to crash - and at the last minute, it ascended and all were safe. Farther along, we'll understand it, all by and by!
Most doctors are scientists. Bad enough many think your ailments are "all in your head" but the majority pooh-pooh spiritual/divine experiences. While many can be explained by scientific means, Dr. Kolbaba takes us behind the scenes of examples of divine interventions, miraculous recoveries, and doctors who don't dismiss them.What I enjoyed about this book was the fact that it is so believable, is that it continually holds your interest by presenting various chapters written by various doctors all of whom are from different backgrounds and different disciplines of medicines but still believe in the hand of a higher power at work. Intuition, coincidence, perhaps, but all demonstrates the healing power of a force greater than ourselves. Only someone fearless like Dr. Kolbaba could have written a spiritual work of this nature, and run the risk of being laughed at by some in medical science who have the misshapen notation they are Gods.If you have a health problem and are clinging to hope with no human success, or you are a physician thinking matters of the spirit are hogwash; read this book. It can make a believer out of you that modern medicine in concert with spirit is winning combination!
This book gave me a renewed respect for those in the field of medicine. It also let me know that God works everywhere even with doctors who don't acknowledge him until there is no other explanation for a miracle. This book was filled with love, heroism and faith. It made me cry and praise God all at the,same time. I loved it. Thank you to all who shared their stories.
I am privileged to work with Dr. Kolbaba and many of the fine physicians whose stories are told in this book. As a Registered Nurse, I can attest that I have seen and felt many unexplainable things in my 34 year career. This book puts into words how these experiences affect us as a community of caregivers, and offers a glimpse into a part of our world that is not often shared. I would highly recommend this book to all!
As a Pastor for 30 years, I've sat at many a bedside and seen a few miraculous events. But most of the doctors I've known (and some of the pastors) have dismissed any recognition of the kinds of experiences related in this book. Thats too bad, because these stories have the power to comfort those who are facing poor health and even death, especially since they're told by the docs who participated in the events
In these troubling times I made a conscious choice that I wanted to read something that would inspire and be uplifting. I'm so glad that I heard Dr. Kolbaba speak on the late night radio show Coast to Coast AM and downloaded his book immediately. I couldn't put it down and was frequently brought to tears. It truly was amazing and I'm feeling more hopeful and inspired.
Physicians' Untold Stories is a heartwarming joy to read, and I highly recommend it. Everyone in the world should be fortunate enough to have such caring physicians attend to their medical needs. Dr. Scott Kolbaba and his contributing colleagues are extremely gifted physicians, as much as they are wonderful, beautiful humanitarians. I've gifted friends and family with this great read, and based on all their positive reviews, this is going to be my favorite go-to gift in an effort to brighten someone's day!
